No autopsy planned on "The Jeffersons" actor Sherman Hemsley

(Reuters) - No autopsy will be done on "The Jeffersons" lead actor Sherman Hemsley because his medical history indicates he died of natural causes at age 74, an official said on Wednesday.

Hemsley was found dead on Tuesday at a house in El Paso, Texas, where he lived, and at the time police said the cause of death was "pending autopsy results."

But the El Paso County Office of the Medical Examiner has decided against doing an autopsy, said Annabel Salazar, chief investigator for the office.

Hemsley's cause of death is "most definitely natural causes," she said, but she added that she could not give specifics on any possible ailment the actor might have suffered.

Hemsley's best-known role was as George Jefferson, the owner of a dry cleaning business who lived in a New York luxury high-rise apartment with his family. "The Jeffersons" ran on television from 1975 to 1985.

Job Summary:
The Payroll Administrator will perform a variety of multi-state payroll processing activities including review of time input, compute wage and overtime, calculate deductions, and produce paychecks.

Primary Job Function:
Ensure accurate and timely processing of weekly, multi-state payroll in accordance with company policies, practices and procedures as well as appropriate federal and state regulations.
Review, process and verify weekly timesheets on the recap report to ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws.
Work closely with project support and field administration to ensure accuracy, proper protocols and processes are in place.
Process employee wage garnishments (child support, levies, etc.) tax withholdings (federal and state), voluntary deductions and direct deposits.

Experience with Spectrum a plus.
Proficiency with MS products.
Experience with large volume payroll. This position runs payroll for 1,500 people.

Education/Training:
Associate?s or Bachelor?s degree in business or accounting desired.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus.

SEATTLE (AP) ? Even as Alex Rodriguez writhed on the ground in pain, he didn't believe his left hand was fractured.

Turns out A-Rod was wrong, and now the Yankees will be without another of their star players.

"It's difficult. Tough break," Rodriguez said in almost a hushed tone after New York lost to the Seattle Mariners 4-2 Tuesday night.

Rodriguez broke his hand when he was hit by an 88 mph changeup from Felix Hernandez in the eighth inning. He went down in considerable pain. The Yankees said he has a non-displaced fracture of the hand, and there is no timetable for his return. He will be placed on the disabled list and will remain in Seattle with the team for the series finale Wednesday.

Eric Chavez, Rodriguez's replacement at third base, had a similar injury in 2004. He was out for about five weeks.

"You hate to see a guy go down on something freak like that," Yankees' first baseman Mark Teixeira said. "I had a weird feeling it wasn't good."

Rodriguez was the last of three Yankees to get plunked in a five-batter stretch and that ended Hernandez's night. He also hit Ichiro Suzuki and Derek Jeter with pitches.

While not sharp, Hernandez had allowed only Curtis Granderson's first-inning home run and worked out of jams in the fourth and fifth innings.

The sudden loss of control started when Hernandez hit former teammate Suzuki on the foot with a breaking ball in the seventh. He then hit Jeter in the arm to open the eighth and completed the trio when his 3-2 pitch to Rodriguez tailed up and in.

None of the Yankees felt any of the wayward pitches were intentional and Hernandez was apologetic.

"It was getting away. It was a changeup to A-Rod," Hernandez said. "I feel bad.

Rodriguez has been durable this season after failing to play at least 150 games since 2007. He had played in all but three of the Yankees 97 games this year after playing just 99 last season.

But A-Rod's production has fallen way off. He was hitting just .274 with 15 homers and 44 RBIs entering Tuesday's game, although he was hitting .328 over his last 16 games.

With the acquisition of Suzuki on Monday to take over for injured left-fielder Brett Gardner, the Yankees appeared to be done with any big moves before the non-waiver trade deadline in a week. Losing A-Rod, though, could change that. New York's main option at third base now is the injury-prone Chavez.

"We'll just have to talk about it and see what we come up with," Chavez said. "Whatever he asks me to do I'll just give it my best shot."

Rodriguez joins Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, Michael Pineda and Gardner as key pieces of the Yankees puzzle who have missed time with injuries.

Whatever the time-frame on Rodriguez, it's one more obstacle for the Yankees to overcome. They do have the luxury of a seven-game lead in the AL East, even with their recent West Coast slump.

"You find out how good you are. Other guys are going to have to step up. We can't feel sorry for ourselves because no one else is going to," Jeter said. "It's going to be a challenge, but it's been a challenge for all the injuries we've had this season."

Lost in the concern over Rodriguez was starter Freddy Garcia (4-4) looking more like the 2001 version that won 18 games with the Mariners and was an All-Star. Garcia struck out a season-high eight and retired the final 15 he faced before being pulled with one out in the eighth.

But Garcia was pitching from behind after the Yankees offense failed in getting to Hernandez in both the fourth and fifth innings when New York had runners in scoring position and couldn't get clutch hits. Teixeira added a sacrifice fly in the eighth, but reliever Lucas Luetge struck out Raul Ibanez with two on to end the threat.

That was all secondary to what the absence of Rodriguez will mean for the Yankees.

"We're going to have to change it around a little," manager Joe Girardi said. "He had been swinging the bat really good too. We've had to overcome some things so far, we're just going to have to continue to do it."

?The historic condominium apartment boom in the Toronto-area market is not necessarily a sign of excess or of a bubble,? Hogue writes. ?While it may not be due to a bubble bursting, nonetheless, we expect that buyer demand for condos will cool going forward.?

RBC expects the current upward pressure on home prices to ease by next year, with condo prices possibly coming down by two to seven per cent from peak to trough.

Federal officials, including Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney, have expressed concerns about over-heated parts of Canada?s real-estate market, including Toronto?s condo boom.

In contrast to Hogue, David Madani, economist at Capital Economics, forecasts a coming price decline in Canada?s real-estate market of as much as 25 per cent, with places such as Toronto and Vancouver bearing the brunt of the slide.

To be sure, condo construction is booming, the RBC report notes. Figures from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. show that a record 44,100 condo and apartment units were under construction in May, 2012, with an additional 6,200 other semi-detached and row houses also going up.

Money, Abundance And Prosperity by Judith Morgan | Entrepreneur ...

One of the recurring themes which comes up when I listen to clients, colleagues, self-employed folks, friends and bloggers is money. Or rather fear about lack of it i.e. scarcity. ?I am sure this resonates with most readers right now too. How do you keep yourself in an upbeat place about money when you know you?ve not got enough coming in or you are worried about debt or cash flow struggles and impending difficult decisions about what bills to pay? Add your own version in here.

Recently I?ve been through a bout of this myself and not for the first time in my life. Here are some of the things I?ve been doing which have made a difference. I can?t tell you which ones have been working because I?ve been doing them all at the same time (!) but you might pick one or two and experiment yourself and let me know what works for you?

First off, that picture is a prosperity angel which intuitive Lynn Robinson sent me in her ezine last week. I liked her (the angel) so much I put her on my desktop which means I?ve been looking at her on and off for a week whilst some wonderful financial things have been manifesting. I?ve won the EuroMillions lottery three times in succession, not big sums of money but indications of flow turning in my direction. I received a large windfall, entirely unexpected, five figures of free money, and I received an invitation to re-run a high profile workshop with a delicious daily rate attached. I?ve been forwarding the prosperity angel to all those I speak to who feel they are in lack.

I?ve been tapping again, practising EFT. And I?ve been attracting a lot of people into my life who are EFT practitioners. I am grateful for the reminder about how quick and easy EFT is to practise on yourself and that the results can be instant. When I do EFT it works, when I don?t it doesn?t. Yes, I know, but it?s worth the reminder to us perhaps that when we do what we know to do it works, and when we don?t bother to use the tools we already have at our disposal we slide back into lack and fear and scarcity again. What you focus on shows up in your life so stop thinking about lack and debt and fear and turn your sights instead on what you do want ? abundance, prosperity and surplus.

I?ve been playing Rich Dad?s game, Cashflow 101. Recently I asked the game before we started for an outcome which would inform me about my real life and what happened was I won the game on the throw of a dice on a gamble I knew I could win and at the time I had no money (zero) in front of me. No cash. Big gamble. Big win. These were identical circumstances to my own life a couple of weeks ago before I began this intense prosperity work again and started to turn the flow in my favour. If you?ve never played Rich Dad?s Cashflow game or it?s been a while, Google ?Cashflow games in X? , X being where you live, and join in. Usually it only costs a fiver to play and you can learn about your relationship with money by observing the way you play.

• Read what Lynne Twist has to say on her Soul of Money blog* about the surprising radical truth of sufficiency and how what you appreciate appreciates.

It is easy to say (and vital to grasp) that looking forward to what you do want is the way to go here. Use any and all resources at your disposal to give up all negative emotions and fears around money. Some say we do not choose these and that may be true but a quick re-focus and a tap, affirmation, daily practice of deep breathing and some work on releasing your attachment to the old and blame for why you are where you are will turn the tide.

What does it take to make you feel better? Do it now. Do it always. ?Our job is to radiate the vibe for lots of lovely money, abundance, prosperity, good fortune, sufficiency, gratitude, luck, attraction and all good things. And one way to demonstrate your confident anticipation of all these ?is to pay it forward first. What can you give? How can you find a way to serve the greatest number of people so that the river of abundance flows to you? There?s more than enough for all of us in the world and your having plenty doesn?t mean another need be deprived.

Novel anti-malarial drug target identified

An international team of scientists, led by researchers from the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, have identified the first reported inhibitors of a key enzyme involved in survival of the parasite responsible for malaria. Their findings, which may provide the basis for anti-malarial drug development, are currently published in the online version of the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.

Tropical malaria is responsible for more than 1.2 million deaths annually. Severe forms of the disease are mainly caused by the parasite Plasmodium falciparum, transmitted to humans by female Anopheles mosquitoes. Malaria eradication has not been possible due to the lack of vaccines and the parasite's ability to develop resistance to most drugs.

The researchers conducted high-throughput screening of nearly 350,000 compounds in the National Institutes of Health's Molecular Libraries Small Molecule Repository (MLSMR) to identify compounds that inhibit an enzyme which plays an important role in parasite development: Plasmodium falciparum glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (PfG6PD) is essential for proliferating and propagating P. falciparum.

"The enzyme G6PD catalyzes an initial step in a process that protects the malaria parasite from oxidative stress in red blood cells, creating an environment in which the parasite survives," said senior author Lars Bode, PhD, assistant professor in the UCSD Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology and the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. People with a natural deficiency in this enzyme are protected from malaria and its deadly symptoms, an observation that triggered the reported research.

The parasitic form of the enzyme (PfG6PD) is what contributes the majority of G6PD activity in infected red blood cells. Because the parasite lives in the blood of a malaria-infected person, the scientists aimed at identifying compounds that inhibit the parasitic form but not the human form of the enzyme. "We didn't want to interfere with the human form of the enzyme and risk potential side effects," Bode explained.

Scientific testing had previously been limited by a lack of recombinant PfG6PD. Team members in the lab of Katja Becker, PhD, at the Interdisciplinary Research Center at Justus-Liebig-University in Giessen, Germany produced the first complete and functional recombinant PfG6PD, and researchers led by Anthony Pinkerton, PhD, at Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute used it to identify the lead compound resulting from their efforts, ML276.

ML276 represents the first reported selective PfG6PD inhibitor, which stops the growth of malaria parasites in cultured red blood cells ? even those parasites that developed resistance to currently available drugs. "ML276 is a very promising basis for future drug design of new anti-malarial therapeutics," said Bode.

Cinemassacre Videos for iPad review

I'm a huge retro console and arcade video gaming fan. There are a plethora of sites that cover that material, but one of my favorites is Cinemassacre, and the Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN) in particular. AVGN is a saucy, foul mouthed, brilliant reviewer, whose material is always well researched and presented. However, going to the Cinemassacre website would often result in errors for me on my iPad. The videos just wouldn't play right or would disappear completely after the page finished loading. I don't know if I should blame Cinemassacre, Apple, or Adobe for this, or if there's enough blamecake to go around,

Imagine my surprise and delight when I saw Cinemassacre had a videos app available on the App Store, and that it provided universal binary support for the iPad. It was a paid app, which was also a surprise, but I figured there must be some premium content or special features in there commensurate with the $1.99 price tag.

Long story short, there wasn't.

Watch the video above for the fuller, more frustrated version, but suffice it to say I wasn't impressed. The Cinemassacre Videos app was as basic as they come. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a template generated app that just pulls a video feed and populates a table view. That's bad but not terrible on a small iPhone screen, but is terrible on the big iPad screen. It looks like the stretched out smartphone apps found on early Android tablets that Apple made fun of. Seriously. There's a reason Apple didn't just make bigger list views on iPad but made YouTube and Videos look totally different. Cinemassacre Videos is the opposite of that.

Even the table views are filled with repetitive thumbnails, making it hard to get any glance-able information. It just comes off as sloppy, which is a real shame given how great the Cinemassacre website and the actual videos are. (I only noticed later that, unlike the iPhone interface, there are no actual screenshots shown for the iPad version in the App Store -- only one, lonely splash screen.)

There's also no premium content that I could find, or extra features (besides the videos not disappearing) to recommend the app and it's $1.99 price tag over the free website. In fact, presentation wise, the free Cinemassacre website spanks the Cinemassacre Videos. Maybe the lack of ads in the app compared to the website will appeal to some, but not for me, not in this case.

Once again, the video content of Cinemassacre and of AVGN's reviews remain stellar. Somewhere, there's a great Cinemassacre app, one worthy of the site, waiting to be made. This isn't it.

I'd recommend Cinemassacre.com to any retro gaming nerd. But skip this app and stick to the website. Rather than adding to Cinemassacre and AVGN experience, it only detracts from it.

Zimmerman: I pray for the Martins daily

George Zimmerman told Fox News Channel host Sean Hannity that he prays for the family of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, whom Zimmerman shot and killed during a confrontation in February.

"I would tell them that again, I'm sorry. My wife and I don't have any children," Zimmerman told Hannity. "I love my children even though they aren't born yet, and I am sorry that they buried their child. I can't imagine what it must feel like, and I pray for them daily."

It is the first public interview Zimmerman has given since the deadly confrontation with Martin on Feb. 26, 2012. Zimmerman reportedly agreed to the interview because his attorney says he hopes it will result in donations to his client's defense fund.

Zimmerman appeared alongside attorney Mark O'Mara wearing a gray suit and buttoned blue shirt. He appeared nervous at times, with sweat forming on his upper lip during the interview.

"I hope it's the most difficult thing I'll go through in my life," Zimmerman said of the confrontation.

Several new details about the incident emerged during the interview.

Early on, Hannity asked Zimmerman if he carried the gun used in the shooting with him at all times. "I carried it at all times, except when I went to work," Zimmerman said.

Yet, in a surprising revelation, Zimmerman claimed to have never heard of Florida's controversial Stand Your Ground law that has been at the center of the case.

Zimmerman also strongly denied referring to Martin with a racial slur during his 9-1-1 call to police. When Hannity asked if Zimmerman remembers what he said, Zimmerman nodded and smirked. "Punks," he said. "I can tell you that when the police played it for me at the station, it was clear as day."

Later in the interview, Zimmerman gave a detailed account of the physical confrontation with Martin that led up to the shooting. Zimmerman claims that Martin punched him in the nose as Zimmerman reached for his phone.

"He started bashing my head into the concrete sidewalk. As soon as he broke my nose, I started yelling for help. I was disoriented," Zimmerman said, saying Martin punched him more than a dozen times.

"I didn't know what would happen at that point," Zimmerman continued. "I would try and sit up and push myself down. Whenever I would sit up he would take the opportunity to slam my head down and punch me in the nose."

When Hannity asked if Zimmerman was talking to him during the confrontation, Zimmerman said yes and claims Martin verbally threatened to kill him.

"[He was] cursing and telling me to shut up and telling me he was going to kill me," Zimmerman said.

"After we were on the ground, I shimmied with him on top of me," Zimmerman said. "After he couldn't hit my head on the ground anymore, he tried to suffocate me."

"He said, 'You're going to die tonight.' He took one hand off and I felt it going down my side toward my holster," Zimmerman said.

"At that point, I realized that it wasn't my gun, it wasn't his gun, it was the gun," he said.

However, Zimmerman claims that he initially thought he missed Martin after drawing his gun and firing.? When asked what he most wants the public to know in the aftermath of the shooting, Zimmerman said, "I'm not a racist and I'm not a murderer."

When asked for Martin's reaction, Zimmerman said at first he didn't realize Martin had been shot. "He said something to the effect of 'you got it, you got me.'"

When asked if he would do anything differently in hindsight, Zimmerman said no. "I feel that it was all God's plan and for me to second-guess or judge it?" he said, trailing off.

Zimmerman told Hannity that he fears for his life and said that media critics including filmmaker Spike Lee and MSNBC host Al Sharpton owe him an apology.

"I can't guess to what their motives were. I would just ask for an apology," Zimmerman said. "If I did something that was wrong, I would apologize."

But by the end of the Fox interview, it was Zimmerman who turned to the camera and asked for forgiveness.

"I do wish that there was something, anything, I could have done that wouldn't have put me in a position where I had to take his life.

"I want to tell everyone, my wife, my family, my parents, my grandmother, the Martins, the city of Sanford, and America that I'm sorry that this happened," he said, staring straight into the camera lens. "I hate to think that because of this incident, because of my actions, its polarized and divided America. And I'm truly sorry."
