Position Summary:
The Marketing Coordinator reports to and works closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to implement advertising, direct mail, and other project components of Center for the Arts and Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology marketing plans. Areas of responsibility include implementation of advertising plans, coordination of direct mailings and program book content, and support for other marketing projects and events. The Marketing Coordinator must be an innovative thinker who can work collaboratively in a team environment; be positive, strategic, and proactive; and project a professional image.

The Marketing Coordinator will:

  • Negotiate media buys
  • Negotiate center advertising sales
  • Negotiate business-to-business partnerships
  • In collaboration with the director of marketing and communications, manage specific strategic advertising campaigns that target regional audiences to meet organizational objectives
  • Work with director of marketing and communications on overall advertising strategy, help manage advertising budget
  • Evaluate customer research, market conditions, competitor data and implement marketing plan changes as needed.
  • Initiate market research studies or coordinate with academic units.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate performance of marketing ambassadors, volunteers, interns, and/or work study students and oversee their activities.
  • Represent the center and icat on external committees and with external groups
  • Working with the director of marketing and communications, identify, initiate and manage media partnerships
  • Create and execute other on- and off-campus marketing activities to raise visibility of the Center and Center and the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology and institute.
  • Assist with evening and weekend events as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or similar field or equivalent professional marketing experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Project management experience and a track record of meeting project deadlines.
  • Electronic marketing experience.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the performing and visual arts.
  • Familiarity with brand strategy.
  • Ad buying experience.
  • Working knowledge of the local media/advertising market.
  • Copywriting experience.
  • Experience with local community outreach.
